Love of Reading Week

Love of Reading Week

Posted on March 5, 2020

Our Love of Reading Week here at Sam Case has been packed with guests and events! Thank you to our community members for coming to share their love of reading with our students! Our classes have met County Commissioners Kaety Jacobson and Claire Hall; City Council Member CM Hall; NMS Principal, Aaron Belloni; NHS Vice Principal, Adam Scarberry; School Resource Officer Lekas;  Newport Mayor, Dean Sawyer; Superintendant, Dr. Karen Gray; Megan Schain of Cohen and Park; Pastor Kelsey Ingalls; Chief of Police Jason Malloy; as well as Newport Public Librarians Linda Annabelle and Vanessa Clausing! Each visitor shared books and their love of reading with the students. We also enjoyed a Drop Everything and Read School-Wide Event, a wonderful assembly from the Newport Public Library, and fun events in the library all week long! Dress up days made the week even more fun with a great connections to all kinds of books. Kids dressed up as book characters from a popular children’s series on You’re a Wizard Harry Potter Day, people they admired on We’re all Wonders Day, in their favorite outfit for Oh The Places You’ll Go Day, and of course in their pajamas for Llama Llama Red Pajama Day. Tomorrow is our last day and we encourage all our students to dress up as their favorite book character and join us for one more day to celebrate Sam Case’s Love of Reading! We will also have special guests to read to more students. Thank you to Newport Public Library for sharing your amazing decorations and to everyone in our community for supporting our school celebration all week long!
